Mark Ritchie

Mark carries on the family business, begun in 1956 in San Francisco, and presides over the largest independent commercial real estate firm in Northern California. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from UC Berkeley in 1979 with a degree in political science and economics, Mark began his career in real estate. After 8 years working in other firms, Mark joined his father at Ritchie & Ritchie in 1987 and immediately focused on growing the San Jose office. In 1988, he was awarded "Office Broker of the Year" by the San Jose Chamber of Commerce and was nominated again in 1989.

In 1996, Mark began his tenure as president of the firm, changing the name to Ritchie Commercial, and continuing the firm’s emphasis on ethical practices, community reinvestment, and aggressive "green" property management policies. In 1998, he was awarded "Real Estate Entrepreneur of the Year" by the San Jose-Silicon Valley Business Journal and the "Mike Murphy Award" by the Association of Silicon Valley Brokers for 2000.

Mark also belongs to a number of professional and community organizations, including past President of San Jose Museum of Art Association, Board Chairman of San Jose History Museums, Advisory Council of the Commonwealth Club of Silicon Valley, member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks, and is a Charter Member of the Lambda Alpha International, Silicon Valley Chapter. He is a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum. Mark is also Honorary Consul for Uruguay in San Francisco.
